How It Happened

This collaboration started with a simple follow. I had been following wear‘em out for a while, drawn to how Lauren Derrett was tackling such a real, taboo topic. It aligned perfectly with my focus on the raw textures of sustainability and the truth that people who menstruate have to face.

I decided to reach out directly. I wanted to see if we could create more than a standard feature, something with more depth, as I was excited to immerse myself in a topic that deserves more coverage. We connected over the idea of building a space for these conversations, to honour them with a permanent home.

So, what began as a single outreach email evolved into a deep-dive discussion about breaking taboos and the power of building a brand with true impact. Bringing the importance of Lauren's mission to change the narrative around period care to light. It show’s exactly what happens when a brand has a clear purpose and a story worth telling.

I feel that the majority of us had substandard period education, and that lack of exposure to the topic creates a shame around it that we hold in us; this stops us from noticing any potential issues we may be having with our periods, and if there are issues, the shame may prevent us from seeking help for them. But, even on the most basic level, we need to know what our bodies are going through and how we can support it.
