Growing up, my world always felt different to the life traditionally served to us on society’s platter. We were more encouraged to excel at sports and ‘smart’ subjects at school than to be artistically driven, and this never sat right with me as someone who has always felt at peace in the arms of creativity.

Fast-forward through childhood: my parents framed my first primary school painting, I got my poetry published in secondary school, became a semi-finalist in my first global songwriting competition, performed in the West End and on BBC Radio, got a music degree, and began writing for an online magazine. I believe my stars were always aligned to create through words and visuals.

And now, life finds us here in 2026, where a birthday present became the catalyst that ignited my studio dream. After COVID, I found it hard to get back to my creative home, but it took a camera and an 11-hour trip to our new Highland home to finally bring me back to what I’ve always loved.

I navigate snowy pathways, golden beaches, nostalgic fields, moody forests, and glistening water, capturing the slow life that often goes unnoticed. This is where I’ve learned that the candid truth of a place or person is always the most interesting part of the story.

Being diagnosed as neurodivergent this summer has provided me with a new perspective on the world, and as a result, completely reshaped how I approach my work. My late diagnosis has encouraged me to look at spaces outside a standard commercial lens and naturally focus on the raw, unfiltered details people crave in the modern, overpolished world we experience.

I believe that building a quiet visual environment invites people to stop scrolling, breathe, and truly connect with not just the brand or the product, but your story.

The Groundwork

01 / Raw over perfect

Rather than smoothing or editing away textures, I embrace them! The heavy grain on a soaked stone wall, facial lines, dust settling - all the imperfections. These unpolished layers are what make a photo, a scene, come to life and show the honest truth of a moment.

02 / Creating a safe space

To be seen is to feel trust. Whether I’m filming an interview or quietly shooting a product, I aim to keep the space low-stimulation and safe. No masking or performance, just breathing space to be yourself.

03 / Slowing down

Fast commercial commotion isn’t my cup of tea. I love working slowly, intentionally, listening, and taking my time with what I create. The goal is to move past fast scrolling and give people a second to stop and experience a world that feels less lonely, and even gets them questioning…?

Alongside my studio, I continue to grow a community on @emmaburtonblog. It’s a personal, unfiltered space where I document real conversations around late-diagnosed neurodivergent life, slow living, and healing from body dysmorphia. Through this passion, I have scaled the platform to 172,000+ monthly views with an organic 89.9% non-follower reach, and increased my following from 707 to 1186 in 7 weeks.

My work feels like more than just the beautiful framework; I dive into understanding the digital landscape, audience retention, and building trust.
