Bringing together a two-part editorial series originally written for FizzyMag.
These publications were developed through thoughtful conversations with TryKind Clothing founder Alana Redick, outlining her inspiring journey from leaving a fast-fashion career in the heart of London to uncovering ancient Ayurvastra textile methods in Kerala.
Together, they explore the true meaning behind building a brand rooted in slow living, non-toxic practices, and a deeper connection to women's health.
“ Ayurvastra dyes are more than just plant-based; they contain zero chemicals and have remarkable effects on our nervous system, skin, and intimate health. They aid sleep, among many other benefits. In contrast, most mainstream dyes contain chemicals and are often manufactured by machines rather than people. TryKind’s fabric is made with a touch of love and magic.”

Chapter I: From Soho to Kerala
How It Happened
I was introduced to TryKind Clothing through the sustainable community. After falling in love with a gifted set they sent to me that I still wear today, I reached out to connect directly with Alana Redick.
We initially launched a collaborative reel on Instagram before conducting the interview, and the response was so positive that a conversation felt like a natural next step. Once published, TryKind designed a featured post to promote the story which we collaborated on.
This piece remains a special part of my own journey; it allowed me to dive into a completely new space to investigate and reignite my passion for exploring women's health through a holistic lens.
“ All of our dyes have different benefits, and some are better at different times of the month. For example, we recommend you wear our indigo flower blend during menstruation because it is cooling and calming, but the sappan bark is better during ovulation because it gives skin a natural glow and boosts confidence. ”

Chapter II: Honoring the Cycle
How It Happened
Following the success of our first feature, TryKind reached out to collaborate on a second piece. We collaborated on another Instagram reel with a gifted set, which sparked a new idea for our next conversation. A topic deeply centred in both our missions: menstrual health and cycle literacy.
I wanted this piece to help people with real experiences, so I shared a poll with my audience about their personal struggles with menstrual health. The overwhelming response highlighted a significant gap in women's healthcare, emphasising the need for genuine, holistic wellness understanding.
Alana's profound journey and knowledge were incredibly exciting to study, ultimately empowering and inspiring me to take a closer look at my own menstrual wellbeing.
The interview stands as a powerful exploration into navigating and honouring our natural body rhythms.
