How It Happened
I first discovered Eden Perfumes through a recommendation from a friend in the sustainable circle. Having purchased and used their perfumes myself, I was already a genuine advocate for the product before I reached out to them. I wanted to explore how a family-run business stays so consistent with their values, especially since they launched the UK’s first recycled perfume bottle back in 2013, long before it was a trend.
I was excited about getting into the real, behind-the-scenes side of their production. My focus was on showing the family’s hands-on work, from the oil blending to the distribution. I wanted the piece to reflect their "substance-over-style" approach and prove that you can have a high-end fragrance without all the unnecessary waste.
By reaching out, I was able to give my community a look into a brand I already trusted and they loved. This interview showed me the importance of following my own curiosity; allowing me to look past the hype of the big fragrance houses and tell a story about a family that’s been doing things the right way for years.
“ Every single member of the family works on a different aspect of perfume production: oil blending, refilling, and distribution. We always only use the most sustainable and planet-conscious ways of production...
All our bottles are made of recycled crystal glass, and you can send them back to be refilled. All our packaging is fully recyclable and 100% biodegradable (FSC-certified cardboard). Even our test strips and flyers are made from recycled wood pulp.”
